Our party of four stayed at Hale Mauka for a week in May, 2010. It is perfectly located, a few steps from the beach, approximately an hour from the airport and bustle of Honolulu and Waikiki. We enjoyed the beautiful ocean scenery morning and late evenings and toured the island during the day. We awoke each morning to the sound of the waves crashing, doves cooing in the nearby trees, and of all things, a rooster crowing! The sounds as well as the breezes constantly blowing through the open windows were delightful. There are several very friendly souveneir shops, shrimp trucks, and small dining places on the North Shore, as well as beautiful beaches where you can watch the surfers. We watched a few surfers while relaxing on our lanai. If you are looking for glitz, this is not your place, but if you have children or just want to enjoy the beauty of Hawaii in a relaxed setting, this is it! Thank you, Zack, for providing much needed directions and local information. We had a wonderful time.
Thank you, we're still working on the north shore guide section. Credit should go to Brandon Snow and Mindspyder New Media for the site build. We highly recommend them for any website services. www.mindspyder.com
